It seems that all this fancy living is getting us down, folks. We’re living too high on the hog as they say and we’re paying for it and now we have to talk about low cholesterol cooking. Plain and simple. We’re not eating right and it’s time to face the music before it’s too late.

 

Cooking right is really only good common sense. You know you should not be eating a lot of red meat and butter and fatty foods full of grease and a lot of heavy sugar or salt and of course watch what you drink.  Well, bummer you say. But wait, it doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Healthy cooking is really quite good.

It simply means super sizing anything is a no no. And forget about fast food restaurants regardless of what it tastes like, it’s not good for you. Lay off the fatty foods and go lean. If you have to have meat, make it lean cuts and more fish and chicken.

 

Especially eat your vegetables. You can stir fry them sometimes or make a mixed dish and season it to your taste. More salads and fruits are in your favor.

 

But whatever you’re cooking don’t overuse the salt and no shortening and margarine and go light on the butter. Try seasoning things with olive oil. It’s good for you. A little wine in some dishes won’t hurt and will add flavor.

 

When it comes to bread that you serve with your meal try whole grains of various kinds. And try making an olive oil dip to serve with it. Lay off the organ meats and egg yolk and dairy products. And don’t even dream about fried foods. Shame on you.

 

Check with a nutritionist or do some research on the web and find out what foods you can prepare in what way and keep it healthy. Recipes are everywhere. Join a club and get involved in cooking new things and old things in a new way.
